Project Overview:
Co-Founded an art project inspired by a vintage poster illustrated by Walid Zbib in the 1980s during the Lebanese Civil War. The project aimed to reconnect with the identity of our beloved city through a contemporary lens.
Ten young, talented students were invited to spend six months creating illustrated posters that expressed their personal vision and perception of Beirut in 2015.
Role I developed the exhibition’s name and co-managed the project end to end, from recruitment to sponsorship and venue coordination. I also designed and led the brand identity for both editions of the exhibition.
Exhibition & Activities:
The exhibition took place in Beirut over three days at a central location. In parallel, we organized a series of illustration workshops led by professional artists to support skill development and creative exchange.
Results & Impact:
The project received coverage from multiple media outlets, including journals, television programs, and social media influencers. The exhibition served as a gateway for several participating students to have their work published by a renowned local comic publishing house and to exhibit their work at multiple cultural events.
Reflection:
Beirut Is… remains one of my favorite projects. It continued for two years before I was eventually forced to leave the country, and it stands as a meaningful chapter in my creative and cultural journey.
